James K. Burke, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend, passed away suddenly on April 23, 2024, at the age of 75. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen Burke (nee
Dugan) for fifty-three years. He was the son of the late John C. Burke and Marie (nee Kozak) Burke. He is survived by his brother, John Burke.
Jim is survived by his children Kristi Boccella (Kevin), Kati Burke, Kerri Zwiebel (Keith), Kelli O’Donnell (Mike), 11 grandchildren, Jimmy, Julia, Kevin, Olivia, Jack, Danny, Jason, Emma, Kenzie,
Blakely, Jaxson, and 3 grand dogs, Rocky, George, and Bernie.
Jim was born in Philadelphia and graduated from Father Judge High School in 1966. He studied at LaSalle University before joining the Marine Corps in 1967, Semper Fi. He was a loyal member
of the Sheet Metal Workers’ Local 19. He was a true “Tin Knocker” for life. His membership in the Union established Jim as a proud business owner for over 50 years. It only took one firm
handshake, a big smile or a bear hug from Jim and you knew he really liked you. Jim was so much more than a boss during his time as a business owner. He hired family, nephews, and friends
that he supported in many ways beyond employment.
As a father to his four girls, he was a constant source of unwavering support. As they grew older, he was their greatest friend, and together they created countless lifelong memories. As a
grandfather, Jim enjoyed being a spectator at his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was their biggest fan, and spending time with them was his greatest joy. He proudly taught his family how to
fish and crab during cherished summer vacations in Sea Isle City, NJ. He never missed a moment to be surrounded by the vivacious family he so adored. Many would ask his wife and 4
daughters, “does he ever get a word in edgewise?”
In his retirement, Jim loved fishing, sitting on a dock at the lake, and driving a school bus for Centennial School District. He was lucky enough to pull the card of loving husband, adoring father, 4
doting girls, 3 sons-in-law, and meeting all 11 healthy grandchildren. Jim simply loved to sit back and take in the love of the family he created with Kathy. His favorite role of all time was PopPop.
Family will receive friends to celebrate the life of Jim on Friday, April 26 from 9am-12pm at Mary, Mother the Redeemer Church, 1325 Upper State Road, North Wales, PA 19454. Relatives and
Friends are invited to Jim’s funeral mass at 12pm. Interment will be private.
