Thomas Joseph Legeckas, a cherished figure amidst his family and friends, was born on October 17, 1950, in Philadelphia, where he would come to know every street and corner as intimately as the back of his hand. With steadfast dedication, he worked as a lineman for Bell phone company for 30 years, demonstrating a work ethic that inspired all who knew him. Upon his retirement, he left behind a legacy of service and commitment.

A distinguished alumnus of Bishop McDevitt High School, Thomas was not just a student; he was a star on the football team, showcasing his passion for sports that would permeate his life. This love for athletics carried into his adulthood, where he proudly represented the Venango Bears as a semi-professional football player and cherished the memory, still keeping his beloved jersey.

Thomas's greatest joy came not only from his achievements but from the pivotal role he played as a father. He was always there for his son, Ryan, coaching soccer and basketball teams, ensuring he could support and contribute to Ryan’s formative experiences. Their shared moments of watching Philadelphia sports games became treasured memories, especially the celebrations of the 2008 Phillies and the 2017 Eagles championships, which solidified their bond through the highs and lows of sport.

His personality was undeniably vibrant—extremely stubborn yet filled with passion. Driven by the spirit of Philadelphia’s sports teams, Thomas embodied the heart of a true fan, sharing the thrill of victories and the lessons of defeats with those around him.

Beyond his work and sports, Thomas had a deep-seated interest in cars, finding enjoyment not only in working on them but also in reading about them. His hobbies reflected his character: he was a man who embraced life wholeheartedly, whether it was cheering for his favorite team or turning wrenches in the garage.

He leaves behind a loving family, including his beloved son Ryan and daughter-in-law Jessica, who, along with his granddaughter Kensley, will carry on his memory. Thomas is also survived by his sister, Patricia, and extended family members Corinna, Casey, Johnny, Courtney, Joey, and Josh, all of whom cherished his commitment and passion.
