Bob lived a full and accomplished life. He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a B.S. in Physical Engineering. He then served in the Army during the Korean War in an engineering capacity at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, and received an honorable discharge at the rank of Corporal. As an Engineer at IBM for 35 years, he worked on one of the first computers, the ENIAC, and earned a reputation as an expert in RADAR and anti-ballistic missile technology.

Bob loved to sing, and was a member of choral groups from boyhood through his senior years. He also loved camping, hiking, and drove with Sara and the family from Maryland to California and back on two separate trips, visiting numerous National Parks and Monuments along the way. He owned his own Stinson high-wing airplane and made flights across the northeastern United States. He took a lot of pictures of his many adventures, and was known for his slide shows.

After taking an early retirement from IBM at age 58, Bob and his wife Eleanor traveled all around the world. They visited South Africa, drove an RV around Australia and New Zealand, and sailed on a historic ‘around the world’ cruise from Hawaii and toured China, Indonesia, India and Israel. In more recent years, he and his friend and companion, Margaret Braunschweiger, traveled to Switzerland, the Jersey Shore, and other destinations in the US.

A lifelong student, Bob loved scientific and nature documentaries, technical journals and courses. He made a huge impact on the lives of many people and will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
