Richard J. “Rick” Prause

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard J. “Rick” Prause, 79, of Horsham, PA, who passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025. Born on July 4, 1946, he was the beloved husband of Alberta Prause, the proud father of Elizabeth Karetny (husband Sem) and Kenneth Prause (wife Lauren) and a devoted grandfather to Julia, Elliana, Jordan, and Zachary.

Rick is also survived by his loving sisters, Marijo (Wayne) Thoreson and Joan (Joe) Leary. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Marian Prause.

A true firecracker from the start, Rick filled his life with adventure, laughter, and love. He honorably served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Saratoga aircraft carrier before building a career as his own boss, proudly working as a FedEx driver. Beyond work, Rick loved riding motorcycles, traveling on RV trips with Alberta and friends. In recent years he was overjoyed to watch his granddaughters dance at their recitals and his grandsons play their favorite sports and activities.

His humor, hardworking spirit, and zest for life will be missed deeply. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.

Please join us in honoring Rick’s life at a memorial service on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Maggie’s on the Waterfront (9242 N Delaware Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19114). Family and friends are invited to gather and pay their respects between 11:00 and 11:45 a.m.

Following the service, guests are welcome to remain for a luncheon at Maggie’s, where we will continue to share stories and celebrate Rick’s life together. Your love, support, and presence would mean so much to the family during this time of remembrance.
