Myron Pukowsky, born on March 25, 1929, in New Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025, surrounded by family after a brief period of hospice care. Myron led a life full of meaningful experiences and deep connections, leaving a lasting legacy of love, commitment, and purpose.
Myron was predeceased by his wife Jeri, the love of his life. Together, their 64-year marriage was a testament to enduring love that will forever serve as an example to the large family they created.
Early in his wide-ranging career, Myron was a boat builder in his brother’s South Jersey firm. Later, he sold insurance for Metropolitan Life, worked as a mechanical assembler at Kulicke and Soffa in Horsham, PA. and retired as a letter carrier after many years of committed service. His professional journey was defined by an unwavering commitment to integrity and hard work, values he consistently modeled and inspired in those around him.
Education played a significant role in Myron's life. He graduated from Northeast High School and studied drafting at Drexel University, after which he applied his mechanical aptitude to his hobbies and career choices. Reflecting a deep dedication to his country, he proudly served in the United States Army in the early 1950s.
Myron had a profound appreciation for family, which he considered his greatest joy and most meaningful accomplishment. He is survived by his children Myron Jr., Lynn (John) Rapp of Oreland, PA, Lisa (John) Cattell of Warminster, PA, Lori (Steve) Gudknecht of Chalfont, PA, Lois (Steve) Chappell of Gilbertsville, PA, 17 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and his brother-in-law John Teevin of Dublin, Ohio. His favorite memories were those spent with his extended family, gathering for weddings, holidays, and enjoying backyard parties. He taught many of his grandchildren and nephews to play chess.
At age 70, Myron and Jeri moved to Four Seasons, a retirement community in Galloway, NJ, where they played bocce, were active committee members, and made many friends. Myron served on a veteran’s committee, the bocce committee, and he also volunteered at a local elementary school tutoring non-English speaking students.
Guided by a shared curiosity of the world, Myron and Jeri traveled across the US, Caribbean, Europe, and the Middle East, deepening their bond and creating memories filled with joy.
Myron enjoyed an array of hobbies. He loved boating and water skiing and spent countless hours engaging in woodworking, gardening, and stamp collecting. Building puzzles and playing games were also among his favorite activities in his later years. He had a lifelong love of reading and enjoyed reminiscing over old photographs. Proud of his Ukrainian heritage, he enjoyed reading the history of Eastern Europe and sharing his knowledge with his family.
His warmth and wisdom will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. The lessons he taught by example will continue to inspire his family and friends, reminding them of his belief in leading a life of integrity and love.
The family is working on his Celebration of Life and will reach out to loved ones when a date is determined.
