Mark Anthony Vizza, 59, of Warminster, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026, with his family at his bedside.
Mark was born to Elaine R. (Spada) Vizza and the late Joseph A. Vizza. He was raised in the Holmesburg/Mayfair section of Northeast Philadelphia, where he attended Our Lady of Consolation School and also served as an altar boy and was active in youth sports, including baseball and soccer. From an early age, Mark developed a deep passion for music, studying guitar, clarinet, and saxophone.
He attended Father Judge High School and later Council Rock High School, where he was actively involved in marching and concert bands, forming lifelong friendships that endured for more than forty years. Also, while at Council Rock, his participation in the radio and television program—guided by the late Robert E. Metzgar (“Metz”)—sparked a passion for broadcasting that would shape his career. Mark continued his education at Temple University, earning a bachelor’s degree in communications while also operating a DJ business, providing entertainment for weddings, graduations, and private events.
Mark began his professional life working in the family business, Mayfair Jewelers, where he worked as an engraver and sales associate. He later earned an internship with WXTU Radio in Philadelphia, where he built a distinguished career spanning more than 30 years. Mark played an integral role in promotions and marketing efforts, including organizing major events and annual station concerts. Throughout his career, he had the opportunity to work alongside and meet numerous notable figures in music and entertainment.
Above all, Mark was devoted to his family. He cherished moments spent with his children, creating memories through vacations to the Jersey Shore, Disney cruises, and countless family gatherings. He instilled in them a deep appreciation for family traditions, from Christmas Eve’s Feast of the Seven Fishes to Easter celebrations and annual summer picnics. Mark took great pride in his children’s lives. He found true joy in coaching Anna in softball and was so proud of all her accomplishments, including making Dean’s List as a Blue Hen at the University of Delaware. Mark was also Max’s biggest supporter, never missing a chance to cheer him on from the sidelines as he played center for the Plymouth Whitemarsh Colonial’s football team. Mark beamed with pride while celebrating with Anna and Max at their respective college and high school graduation parties this past year and sending Max off to continue football at Dickinson College. Both of his children were a source of tremendous joy and Mark was incredibly proud of the amazing adults they became with the help and guidance of their mother Tracie.
Mark was especially known for the beloved annual “Crab Fest,” which began as a small gathering at the shore and grew into a cherished tradition spanning nearly two decades. As the head chef, Mark brought family together through food, laughter, and tradition. Signature dishes included crabs, spaghetti, clams, mussels, calamari, and his famed “Smarkel Crabs,” affectionately named by his late uncle, Sam Suevo. In later years, he proudly passed these traditions on to the next generation of nieces and nephews who became his sous chefs.
Mark is survived by his loving mother, Elaine R. Vizza; his children, Anna Vizza and Max A. Vizza, and their mother, Tracie Vizza; his brother, Joseph Vizza, Sr. (Tricia Hogan) and their children, Rose, Joseph Jr., and Amelia; and his sister, Denise Mednick (Marc Mednick) and her children, Jack and Sophie Brand. He is also survived by his great aunt, Yolanda Damis; aunts, Patricia Vizza and Mary Spada; uncles, Peter Vizza and Frank Spada; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Joseph A. Vizza; his grandparents, Ida Spada, Madeline Vizza, Frank Spada, and Gabriel Vizza; and his aunt and uncle, Russell Vizza and Annamarie Buono (Vizza).
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on April 9, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church, 1325 Upper State Road, North Wales, PA 19454.
