Leslie Lynnwood (“Lynn”) Aris (9/4/35-1/11/25) was born in Rochester, MI, the youngest of 5 children. As a boy, he worked in his father’s 5 and 10 Cent store in Rochester. He attended Rochester High School, then received his B.A. in Economics and Political Science at Albion College, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. There he also met his wife Virginia. He played the clarinet for his high school and college bands and orchestras. He then went on to get his M.B.A. at the University of Michigan.
Lynn worked as Assistant Dean of Admissions at the University of Michigan Business School for several years and then moved to Pennington, NJ to take a job for the Educational Testing Service in Princeton. He worked there for about 30 years, most of that time as a Vice President.
After Virginia passed away in 2017 after 55 years of marriage, Lynn moved to Ann’s Choice in Warminster, PA. He resumed playing his clarinet for the Second Time Around Band, which he very much enjoyed.
Lynn played tennis for most of his adult years. He was always a voracious reader and loved to watch University of Michigan football and basketball games, as well as the Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia Eagles games. He was a fan of the University of Michigan marching band.
Lynn was predeceased by his wife Virginia and is survived by his son John (wife Lana), son James and grandchildren Mark, Amy and Ashley.
Those who knew Lynn would agree that he had a keen mind and a kind heart. He will be missed. In lieu of flowers, please make deductible contributions to the Albion College E. Maynard Aris Scholarship Fund at:
