Leonard W. Spaeth Jr., affectionately known as Len, was born on May 5, 1942, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026, in Mays Landing, New Jersey, at the age of 83. He leaves behind a profound legacy characterized by his unwavering dedication to family, his professional life, and an insatiable curiosity that drove him throughout his time on this earth.
Len is survived by his beloved son, Leonard Spaeth, and his daughter-in-law, Denyse; as well as his cherished daughter, Kimberly Spaeth, whom he lovingly referred to as "Midget." He was a loving grandfather to Christopher, who brought immense joy to his life. Len also shared a close bond with his sister, Joyce Owens, and he held dear to his heart his niece, Darlene Walls, and her husband, Pat, along with his great-niece, Izzy, and great-nephew, Patrick. A notable relationship in Len's life was with his first wife and lifelong friend, Janice Sykes Heisler, and her husband, James, underlining the deep respect and friendship they maintained.
Len's life was marked by a remarkable balance of work and personal interests. He fully invested himself in both his career and his family, taking immense pride in all that he accomplished. An adventurous spirit, he had a diverse range of passions—boating, the thrill of learning to fly a plane, and a dedicated following of sports teams, particularly the Philadelphia Eagles and the Indianapolis Colts. His love for these activities was indicative of his vibrant personality, which also reflected an engaged and active lifestyle.
Preceding Len in death were his parents, Leonard W. Spaeth Sr. and Dorothy Spaeth (née Tonge), as well as his last love, Diana Stewart. Their memories remain cherished by those who knew and loved him.
Leonard W. Spaeth Jr. will be remembered for his dedication, his thirst for knowledge, and the meaningful connections he fostered throughout his life. His presence and influence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
