Karen Hayes

Karen Hayes, 66, of Dublin, PA, passed away on June 30th surrounded by her greatest joy—her family.

Born on March 9, 1959, in Philadelphia, PA, Karen was the beloved daughter of Aloysius Schmutz and Patricia Fogarty, and the cherished sister of Coleen, Lori, Michael, and her late brother Bud. She graduated from Abington Senior High School in 1977.

From an early age, Karen knew her true calling was to be a mother. She poured her heart into building a warm, loving home with her husband, Mike. She is survived by her five children and their spouses: Shannon and her husband Tom, Kelly and her husband Justin, Megan and her husband Aaron, Michael and his wife Bree, and Tim and his fiancé Talyn. Her love extended to her six grandchildren—Austin, Carter, Ava, Kai, Asher, and Levi—who brought her endless pride and joy. A lifelong animal lover, Karen had many pets throughout her life and is survived by her beloved cat, Sadie.

A natural caregiver, Karen devoted her life to the happiness and well-being of others. Her generosity knew no bounds—she always gave more than she had and opened her heart and home to anyone in need. Whether it was family, a friend, or someone who simply had nowhere else to go, Karen made space for them, offering not just shelter, but warmth, comfort, and unconditional love.

She had a gift for making every day feel special—especially holidays. Whether it was wrapping mountains of Christmas presents or preparing her famous Thanksgiving stuffing, Karen made every celebration magical. She remembered everyone’s favorite meals, wrote the most thoughtful birthday cards, and always knew when a comforting hug was needed.

Karen found joy in the simple pleasures of life—reading, gardening, relaxing on the beach, unwinding with her favorite shows, and spending time with family. Her love, kindness, and unwavering support touched all who knew her. Though she is no longer physically with us, her spirit and warmth will continue to live on in the hearts of those she loved.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Karen’s honor may be made to Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County.
