Joseph (Joe) Kowal passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 11, 2026 at the age of 47. He was born in North Tonawanda, New York, graduated from Lancaster High School, and the University of Buffalo with a Bachelor’s degrees in Accounting with a minor in Finance. He passed his CPA exam with flying colors as his test score was the second highest in New York State.
He was employed as an Accounting Manager before he changed careers to achieve his lifelong dream of becoming a baseball scout. He was a major league scout for the Milwaukee Brewers rising to the level of Senior Scout for the New York Mets - his favorite team since childhood. He loved all sports, but especially baseball, football, and of course his beloved Buffalo Bills.
He will be sorely missed by his daughter, Melody Kowal, who he affectionately referred to as “My Melody”, his mother, Kathleen Kowal, and his father and step-mother, Hank and Adair Kowal, his sister, Stacey DeForest, as well as an aunt, three uncles, several cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends from childhood.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Thank you.
