Obituary

Gloria Nadeen Betz, 69, of Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 28, 2026.

Born on July 5, 1957, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in New York City to Edwin and Enery Perez, Gloria graduated from Pennsbury High School in 1975 before attending Rider College, where she earned her associate degree.

Gloria was introduced to the love of her life, William "Bill" Betz, through Bill’s sister, Nancy after he was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps. The couple began dating in the summer of 1977 and were married on September 23, 1978. Together, they welcomed two beloved sons: Matthew William, born in 1979, and Marc Andrew, born in 1980.

In their early years as a family, Gloria devoted herself to raising her sons, creating a warm and vibrant home filled with unconditional love, laughter, and incredible food. Channeling her culinary creativity, she ran a boutique custom cake business, designing celebratory cakes for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, and milestones.

In 1987, Gloria re-entered the workforce, beginning as a part-time pharmacy cashier in Fairless Hills, PA, before transitioning into medical administration as a billing coordinator in 1991. The family relocated to Winchester, Tennessee, in 1997 for Bill’s work at the military base in Tullahoma and soon after settled in Mount Airy, Maryland, in 1998 when Bill accepted a position in Silver Spring. There, they built a beautiful home where they spent 25 joyful years.

During her years in Maryland, Gloria joined a fertility practice as a billing and collections specialist. Her dedication and leadership led to her promotion to supervisor in 2003, a role she held with distinction until her retirement in December 2022.

Following their retirement in 2023, Gloria and Bill fulfilled a dream by moving into their "forever home" along the banks of the Delaware River in Washington Crossing. Her retirement years were filled with warmth and connection—spending precious time with her sister, Dari, her sons Marc, Matthew, his wife Stefanie, and an extensive circle of cherished family and friends.

Gloria’s generous spirit shone brightest when bringing people together. Renowned for her passion and extraordinary talent in the kitchen, she amassed a collection of hundreds of cookbooks and was always eager to share recipes, techniques, and culinary wisdom. Her legendary Fourth of July celebrations and intimate dinner parties were testaments to her deep hospitality for love of family and friends.

Gloria is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years, Bill Betz; her sons, Matthew and Marc Betz; her sister, Dari; and many beloved extended family members and dear friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026, 3PM - 7PM at the Washington Crossing Inn.
