Barbara E. Wurgley, a beloved wife, dog mom, aunt, and faithful servant of the Lord, went home to be with her Savior on April 17, 2026, at the age of 69 years.

Born on April 9, 1957 in Abington, Pennsylvania, Barbara lived a life marked by deep faith, unwavering love for her family, and quiet strength rooted in her relationship with Jesus Christ. Barbara accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at a young age and remained a devoted follower throughout her life.

She was an active member of Calvary Chapel Philadelphia, where she served joyfully in Children's ministry music, conducted a women’s home Bible study and prayer group. In earlier years she served as a Youth director for various churches and as a Program director at Camp Innabah.

Her life was a beautiful testimony of God’s grace, characterized by kindness and a gentle spirit that drew others closer to Christ. She found her greatest joy in reading her Bible, praying for her loved ones, and sharing the hope of the Gospel with those around her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Robert Wurgley; her cherished nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews; extended family members and many dear friends who were blessed by her faithful witness.

She was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Leone Schmidt and her brothers Jim and Bill.

Barbara’s family will remember her for the way she loved unconditionally, the wisdom she shared from God’s Word, and the peace that radiated from her even in difficult times. She often reminded those around her of the promise in 2 Corinthians 5:17: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

Today, we rejoice that Barbara is now in the presence of her Lord, free from pain, worshiping at the feet of Jesus. We are grateful that the God of all comfort surrounds her family and friends with His peace that surpasses all understanding. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of faith continues to shine brightly as a beacon pointing others to Christ.
