Barbara S. Mechalas passed away on March 5, 2026.Born on April 4, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Dale J.and Irene (Carpenter) Lutz of Dayton, Ohio. She spent most of her life in the Ambler, PA area. She is survived by her seven children: CherylAn Sokol-Byrne (Patrick, Byrne), Dale Mechalas, Tamara Doyle (Tom), Brian Mechalas, Kevin Mechalas, Alayne Bianco (Vito),and Garrin Mechalas  (Heather). She is also survived by her grandchildren Stephen, Thomas, Jenna, Cierra, Vito III, Niko, Geno, Alexis, and Kayla, and by her great-grandchildren Madelynn, Taelynn, Blakelynn, Parklynn, and Atlas. A professional soprano vocalist, Barbara loved singing, whether it was in the church choir, performing at music venues across the nation, or just going to karaoke with family. Some of the most treasured memories are of her calling on birthdays to sing “Happy birthday”. Barbara worked for a time at Society Hill Sound, a recording studio in Philadelphia, and was a familiar presence at The Archive, a store owned by her son, Dale. She’ll be remembered as a kind person with a lively spirit, who created lasting friendships wherever she went, and later in life for the red hat she loved and always wore. 

Blessing of her cremated remains and Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 18th, 2026 at American Funeral Home & Cremation Service, ,1859 Stout Dr, Warwick, PA 18974. Relatives and friends will be received from 6 to 8 pm.
